Dholera SIR: Current Status
"What's the current status of Dholera?" is one of the most common questions we get, and also one of the hardest to answer with a single number, because different parts of the region are at very different stages. Here's the honest, structured answer.
The Activation Area
Sources consistently reference an initial "Activation Area" of roughly 22.5 sq km within the broader ~920 sq km Dholera SIR — the zone where core infrastructure (roads, administrative buildings, water treatment) has been prioritized first. This is the part of Dholera furthest along, and it roughly corresponds to TP1 and adjoining schemes.
What's actually built versus planned
Core road networks, water treatment infrastructure, and administrative facilities within the Activation Area are the most consistently reported as active or complete across independent sources.
2026 has been the region's biggest delivery year so far: the 109 km Ahmedabad-Dholera Expressway opened for public testing in February 2026 and was inaugurated on 31 March 2026, an Airports Authority of India aircraft made the first trial landing at Dholera International Airport in June 2026, and Tata Electronics' semiconductor fabrication plant was widely reported at roughly 50% construction by mid-2026. Passenger operations at the airport and trial production at the fab are still targets (around end-2026 in both cases), not confirmed facts.
How to verify the status yourself, not just take our word for it
We deliberately don't want you relying on any single website for this, including ours.
- Check DSIRDA's official communications and notifications directly where possible.
- Ask any advisor or broker for the specific TP scheme number and its current approval/implementation stage — not a general "Dholera is X% complete" answer.
- Cross-reference infrastructure claims (expressway, airport, utilities) across more than one independent source before treating them as settled fact.
